Casa Verde Construction is an Ottawa architectural builder led by President Paul McElligott. This platform presents private case studies by discipline, and a short private brief for owners planning a serious build.

Timber Frame Study
The frame, member by member
One bent in elevation, with the members that do the work named on the drawing. This is the structure the timber studies above are built from, shown at plate scale instead of as a house picture.
Post
The vertical member. It carries roof and floor loads down to the foundation and sets the rhythm of the bays along the great hall.
Beam
The horizontal member. The tie beam locks the two posts together across the span, while the upper beams carry the roof above the hall volume.
Brace
The diagonal member. Knee braces stiffen the joint between post and beam, so the frame resists racking and the structure stays visible as the architecture.
